Terms of Use
By using Pixlaine, you agree to these terms. They cover what you may do with the service, what happens to the patterns you create, and the rules for the community gallery.
Acceptable Use
- Use the service lawfully and respectfully.
- Do not attempt to disrupt or abuse the service, or to circumvent its limits and access controls.
- Do not use automated tools to scrape, flood, or manipulate the service, including the community gallery and the community yarn counter.
- Do not attempt to obtain paid features without paying for them, or resell access to them.
Accounts
- Creating an account is optional and free. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email; there is no password.
- You are responsible for what is done through your account. Keep access to your email inbox secure.
- Choose a username that does not impersonate someone else or the official Pixlaine account.
- We may suspend or delete an account that abuses the service or breaks these terms.
- You can delete your account at any time from the account settings. This permanently removes your cloud data, shared patterns and uploaded images.
Ownership and Content
- You retain full ownership of the designs, grids and patterns you create with Pixlaine. We claim no licence over them unless you choose to publish them in the gallery.
- You may use what you create commercially, including selling finished items and selling your own patterns.
- If you build a pattern from someone else's image, photograph, character or artwork, that material's own copyright still applies. Converting a picture into a grid does not create a new right to use it.
- Pixlaine's branding, interface, code and bundled artwork remain the property of Pixlaine.
Community Sharing
- Sharing a pattern to the community gallery makes it public: anyone can view it and save it, and unless you turn copies off, add a copy to their own projects.
- Only share patterns you created yourself or have the right to make public. Do not share content that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark.
- Do not share content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate for a general audience.
- By sharing a pattern, you grant Pixlaine a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and reproduce it for the purpose of running and promoting the gallery, for as long as you keep it shared. You keep ownership and can remove it at any time.
- The same applies to images you attach to a shared pattern or profile, such as a finished-item photo or a maker logo.
- Users can report a shared pattern; a reported pattern is hidden pending review. We may hide or remove any shared content at our discretion, and repeated abuse can lead to account suspension.
- Saving someone else's pattern is a bookmark, not a transfer of rights. Patterns from the gallery are for personal, non-commercial use unless their author says otherwise.
Copyright Claims
If you believe content in the gallery infringes your rights, email us with a link to the pattern, a description of the work you own, and confirmation that you are the rights holder or act for them. See the contact page. We remove infringing content promptly and can suspend accounts that repeat the offence.
The Supporter Pack
Everything needed to create a pattern, read it and follow it is free and stays free. The Supporter Pack is an optional extra whose contents are decorative or creator-side only, and it is not currently on sale: there is no way to buy it, nothing on this site takes a payment, and no purchase terms apply to anything you do here today.
If it does go on sale, the terms of that sale - the price, how it is paid, your right to withdraw and how to get a refund - will be set out here before it is possible to buy anything. Anything unlocked for an account stays unlocked.
If you would like to support the site while the pack is unavailable, donations through Ko-fi are welcome and are covered by the Donations section below.
Service Availability
Pixlaine is provided as-is, with no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. We may update, pause or change features at any time. Your projects are stored in your own browser and, if you use an account, in cloud storage, but neither is a backup service: keep your own exported copies of patterns that matter to you.
Analytics and Product Improvement
Pixlaine uses cookieless analytics to understand usage and improve the service, described in the Privacy Policy and Cookies notice.
Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Pixlaine is not liable for indirect losses, service interruptions, or data loss. Yarn quantities, finished sizes and gauge results are estimates and may differ from your actual work; check them before buying materials. Patterns shared by users are their authors' responsibility, and we do not guarantee their accuracy or originality. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited by law, including consumer rights.
Donations
Donations through Ko-fi are voluntary, buy nothing, and are not refundable.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms; the date at the top changes when we do. Continuing to use Pixlaine after a change means you accept the updated terms.
