Cookies and Local Storage
Pixlaine sets no cookies at all, and shows no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. It does store things in your browser, but only what the app needs to work: your projects, your settings and, if you sign in, your session. None of it tracks you, and none of it is shared with anyone.
Why There Is No Cookie Banner
Consent is required for storage that is not strictly necessary, in practice tracking and advertising cookies. Pixlaine has neither. Our analytics is cookieless and anonymous, and everything else listed below is essential to running the app you asked for, so no banner is needed.
Your Projects
Your saved projects, "My Projects", are stored in your browser's built-in database (IndexedDB) on your device. This includes the grids themselves, your row progress and your pattern settings. On a device where you are not signed in, this is the only copy: clearing your browser data deletes it. Signing in adds a private cloud copy that syncs across your devices.
What Is Stored, In Detail
All of the following live in your browser's local storage. Nothing here is sent to a server unless the table says otherwise.
| Purpose | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Language | Whether you chose French or English. |
| Sign-in session | Your session token, so you stay signed in between visits, plus the last email address used, to save you retyping it. Sent to our backend to authenticate you. |
| Sync bookkeeping | When your library last synced and with which account, so two devices merge correctly instead of overwriting each other. |
| Achievements | Your unlocked profile icons and colours. Local only, never sent to a server. |
| Yarn meter | Your yarn total and how much of it has already been added to the community-wide figure. Only the difference is sent, and only when signed in. |
| Pattern view settings | Your zoom level in the pattern window and in the mosaic view, and your Show Time preferences. |
| Customisation | Supporter Pack choices such as tool icons, mouse pointer and background colour. |
| Your export logo | The logo image you add to exported pattern pictures. It is kept entirely on your device and is never uploaded to us. |
| Guidance state | Whether you have seen the first-visit tour, and which optional prompts you asked not to see again. |
Analytics
Pixlaine uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure how the site is used. It is cookieless: it sets no cookies, stores no personal data, and does not follow you across other sites. Pixlaine uses no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers.
Third-Party Services
Opening a contact, donation or shop link takes you to a third-party site, such as Instagram or Ko-fi, which applies its own cookies and privacy rules. That only happens when you click through.
How to Control Storage
You can clear site data at any time from your browser's settings. Doing so resets your preferences, signs you out, and deletes locally stored projects that are not synced to an account, so export anything you want to keep first. Because our analytics is cookieless, there are no analytics cookies to manage or refuse.
